Children will explore a variety of sensory, including visual, auditory, vestibular (motion/balance), proprioceptive (input from muscles/joints), and even smell/tastes! Sensory exploration is a way of examining, discovering, categorizing, and making sense of the world. Certain groups of children need specific play to improve processing of sensory information to help them make sense of and organize input from their environment, such as individuals with autism and sensory integration disorders. However, all ages can benefit from sensory play.

Social skills are the foundation for getting along with others. A lack of social skills leads to difficulty making friends, reduced self-esteem, and emotional and behavioral difficulties. This class is designed to help develop positive social skills through engaging and interactive activities. Participants will learn turn-taking, conversational skills, perspective taking, self-regulation, problem-solving skills and emotion identification. Some children develop social skills easily while others do not. People with learning disabilities, sensory integration difficulties, attention deficits, social communication impairments and people with autism-spectra disorders need additional training in social skills. Focus of skills will be based on age of the group.
